Seems we are in for a lot of reboots, what with producers capitalizing on the current generation’s feel for nostalgia.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC is currently working on a revival for popular 90’s fantasy series Xena: Warrior Princess. The series is supposedly in its very early development phases but so far it can be confirmed that the series would be a modern reboot, much like that of the all female leads of the new Ghostbusters movie. However, it can’t be too bad since the original show’s producers, Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are on the project.
For those who remember, Xena: Warrior Princess is a spinoff of Hercules : The Legendary Journeys which came to be in 1995.
But how exactly are they going to handle the reboot is uncertain considering Xena died in the final episode of the series, but actress Lucy Lawless (who is famous for her portrayal of Xena) has been campaigning for the show’s return for quite some time now, since its finale in 2001. She even confirmed that she was “pitching her ass off” to make the reboot happen, as she told HitFix during the San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks back.
We personally would be delighted to know if the series will indeed be returning in its full glory, chakrams and all.
