Selfie’s are usually the domain of mobile phone cameras and maybe smaller snappers. However Olympus’ is pushing is latest PEN compact as the ultimate selfie taking snapper, despite it being a bit larger than what you’d normally use.
Called the Olympus PEN E-PL7, it’s selfie credentials come in the form of its flipable 3-inch LCD touchscreen that’ll allow users to frame themselves for those oh so narcissistic self-potraits. By flipping the screen down, it switches the camera to “selfie mode “, which comes complete with on-screen buttons to make the capturing that oh so perfect selfie even easier. Of course aside from the more narcissitic induced features, the PEN E-PL7 is still a decent micro-four thirds camera that can be used for more productive picture taking.
It has a 16.1-megapixel LiveMOS image sensor and if you really like to take your time with your selfie, a 3-axis VCM Image Stabilisation feature so you won’t have to much handshakes. And if you’re into video taking, the camera can also capture videos in full 1080p. Need some remote picture taking? The PEN E-PL7 is also Wifi enabled so you can connect your Android or iOS smartphone via Olympus’ app, for convenient image taking via remote.
The variety of accessories you can get for the Olympus PEN E-PL7The PEN E-PL7 is a looker too, encased in stainless steel with three colour variants; black, silver and white. The standard kit will come with a 12-42mm zoom lens and there’ll be a bunch of accessories that’ll be made available to support the camera. This would include leather lens covers and cases, the PT-EP12 underwater case and the UFL-3 underwater flash. So when can we expect this selfie-snapper to hit our shores? According to Olympus Malaysia, we should be seeing it sometime in October and the price of the camera will be announced sometime then.
