Jurassic World has officially taken the box office by storm with the movie raking in the millions. And as if the success of the movie wasn’t enough, we’ve caught wind that Chris Pratt has signed on for another Jurassic movie that could very well be a sequel.
Warning though, some spoilers ahead.
But how exactly is the park supposed to be salvaged when disaster has struck not once but twice already? no investor would be crazy enough to fund something like this twice. But there is talk among fans that its quite possible that Henry Wu would find another way to continue his research into gene-splicing dinosaurs (he did run off with practically a lab’s worth of embryos) and InGen is already elbows deep in the conspiracy as it is.
As quoted from co-writer Colin Trevorrow in a Cinema Blend interview:
I feel like that was something that we did in terms of plot that opens up a potential sequel, but I think there’s things that we did in terms of theme that might be more viable. There’s actually a line we cut from the movie, and sometimes I wonder if I should have… but in that scene with BD Wong [Dr. Henry Wu] and Irrfan Kahn [Simon Masrani], he used to say, ‘How long do you think you can control it? We won’t always be the only ones who can make a dinosaur.’
While that line didn’t make it into the movie its worth considering the ramifications. Also, don’t forget the whole raptor squad program was put together as a possible means of using dinosaurs for military use.
The potential of someone else making dinosaurs is just too huge, so that’s likely going to be the driving force of the next movie. However Trevorrow says he isn’t interested in directing a Jurassic World sequel so we could see this landing in someone else’s hands…or claws.
What do you think might be coming next for the franchise?
