After teething problems with the script and casting for upcoming Ghostbusters, finally we have some solid information of where this new, rebooted film of an old franchise is going to go.

First, a massive surprise from its director, Paul Feig (Bad Teacher, Bridesmaids), who posted a simple tweet with a picture of four actresses (yes, actresses) as the main cast for new Ghostbusters  – Kristen Wiig (The Spoils of Babylon, Saturday Night Live), Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live, Masterminds), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live, Angry Birds) and Melissa McCarthy (Spy, Bridesmaids). Reportedly, many fans have been clamoring for Kristen Wiig, and even Bill Murray gave some sort of endorsement for her casting for the movie too. Any astute reader would realize the main cast all come from a comedy background so it hints to what kind of movie the rebooted Ghostbusters will be.

A week before this tweet, the director revealed that it will not be a parody and might be a continuation of the other movies or some form of acknowledgement of the other Ghostbusters movies. The second piece of news is Sony Pictures announced the date of the airing for the the movie, which is set on 22 July 2016. That’s the same day as the release of the new Power Rangers film too.
