Shoujo anime fans, rejoice as the visual key and preview already launched for new series – Sorata Akizuki’s Akagami no Shirayuki-hime/赤髪の白雪姫 or Snow White with the Red hair.
Studio BONES, renowned for Wolf’s Rain and Star Driver will be animating the series with direction of the veteran Masahiro Ando (Hanasaku Iroha, Blast of Tempest). The series is expected to hit the streets this July.
First serialized in Hakusensha’s LaLa DX (2006 – 2011) then transferred to LaLa later with 13 tankubon volumes already out in the market so far. The story is rather straight forward, Shirayuki, a girl with unusual hair colour attracted her kingdom’s crown prince Raji Shenazard who wants to turn her into his concubine. Because of this, she ran away to neighboring nation and ran across a mysterious boy in the woods named Zen which turns out to be the second prince of the kingdom.
Famous voice actress Saori Hayami who is famous for the role of Miho Azuki in Bakuman and Ayase Aragaki in Oreimo will be starring as the main heroine. She will be singing the OP song for the series too, “Yasashii Kibou” (Kind/Tender Hope). Besides her, Ryota Oosaka (Haruto Tokishima in Valvrave the Liberator), Yuichiro Umehara (Wakasa in Orenchi no Furo Jijou) and the famous veteran voice actor who did Lelouch in Code Geass, Jun Fukuyama will be the principal villain’s voice.
