A few weeks ago we learned that the folks behind the Gambit movie were considering three well known actresses as the main female lead to star alongside Channing Tatum.
Deadline has recently confirmed that Lea Seydoux, who gained fame from being a Bond girl in Specter and starring in Blue is the Warmest Color, has been offered the lead female role. Seydoux was running against Mad Max: Fury Road‘s Abbey Lee and Rebecca Ferguson from Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. However before testing could begin, Ferguson dropped out of the shortlist to pursue a lead role in DreamWorks’ adaptation of The Girl On The Train.
Lea Seydoux will be staring as Belladonna Boudreaux, Gambit’s lover and wife from the comics. The character eventually recieves powers of her own and takes over as the head of the Assassins Guild.
Gambit will be shown in cinemas on October 7, 2016.
