Square Enix have revealed the first game screenshots for the Minecraft-esque RPG, Dragon Quest Builders to show how the game will play.
The game basically puts you in the shoes of a hero whose job is to rebuild the Alefgard, the original kingdom in the first Dragon Quest. He has to achieve this by harvesting material from the surrounding lands by way of his giant mallet, one block at a time.
At the moment it looks like you can collect a whole bunch of different materials, be it wood, rock, random bits of plantlife and even slime ooze if the need arises. The material can also be used to build a base to shelter Alefgard’s citizens as you put the kingdom back together. The landscape will be littered with classic Dragon Quest monsters too, so there will be no shortage of things to do.
The game is set to be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita in Japan, and while the game looks good, there hasn’t yet been confirmation of a North American release.
