Most would agree that Kimi no na wa / Your Name is a fantastic anime film, aside from also being the highest-grossing anime flick ever but it seems to have been given a pass over during the recent Academy Awards.
Your Name got a one-week theatrical run in Los Angeles last December to qualify for this year’s Oscars, but as it turns out, it didn’t even make it onto the list. The Academy Awards lists Kubo and the Two Strings, Moana, My Life as a Zucchini, The Red Turtle and Zootopia as it’s nominees for best animated feature.
What.
The above movies are great, but why the omission of Your Name ? seems it’s rough if you happen to be an anime film, only to end up getting passed over. Anime isn’t just for kids you know, give it a chance for crying out loud.
