OkCupid claims to “multiply your odds of finding a date by, like, 1000000%”, which will make a lot of hopefuls out there very happy. But how can this online dating site pull it off? Mathematics. Finding a date can be rocket science for some people, so why not throw in a few algorithms on the mix? As long as you are completely honest about the personal information you provide and about the potential mate that you are looking for, OkCupid can do its magic to make the impossible happen.
Pros
- Access to personality insights. The site and mobile app is personality focused. That is, you get detailed information about a person, which will help you determine if he’s a good match or not.
- Quality members. A lot of the members of OkCupid are serious about finding a date or love online. This means you spare yourself the hassle of dealing with a fraud or online trolls.
Cons
- Filtering needs improvement. Some members complained about receiving messages from people they’ve clearly specified as someone they’re not interested in. A block button has been provided, however. Sort of a workaround, maybe?
- Has a Who’s Viewing feature. Wouldn’t it be better if you can view someone’s profile anonymously? But this function probably has another purpose, which is to poke someone’s interest on you.
