The digital diva is back for a brand new game, announced on 8th birthday of Japan’s most iconic virtual idol, Hatsune Miku.

Certainly not the first game in the Project Diva series which spans from handheld consoles all the way to arcade machines, they’re taking a slightly different approach to the game, deviating away from simple high scores to being more about audience response.

On top of new songs and costumes, Project Diva X will also feature a new “Live Quest” mode that lets you put together performances for a virtual audience in a similar manner to iDOLM@STER (which involves dancing in time with skimpy/cute costumes). However, you will also have to please your audience, which is a bit of a departure from the original music rhythm game the series is known to be.

You will have to coordinate outfits along with your rhythm sense to complete quests to progress. Players can also communicate with their vocaloid stars though conversation events which can also affect the rhythm portion of the game as well. So keep your stars happy, have them look hip and have a quick trigger finger and you’re all set.

The game will have 30 songs for you to perform alongside a free-play mode that would be very familiar to those who have already had a taste of the previous Project Diva games. Unfortunately Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X is set for a Japan release for the PS Vita March 2016 and the PS4 for Fall the same year, but there’s no news about an international release.

In the mean time, you can check out the trailer below to get a taste of what’s to come.
