The first new show from Netflix and Marvel since Daredevil, Jessica Jones isn’t your bog standard super, and the trailer they’ve just released hits that home.
The trailer basically starts in a messy apartment that’s littered with clothes, junk and empty liquor bottles. Then it pans up to see a woman in bed looking quite hung over. The alarm starts beeping and we see her crush the living daylights out of her alarm clock. At 3PM.
This teases a bit about Jessica Jones’s own comic book origin story and hints at her own character; a slob of a super-powered person with a bad drinking habit. She might very well be the first Marvel superhero to be portrayed this way (Tony Stark notwithstanding) and is a sharp contrast to more traditional heroes like the Avengers. You know, the kind everyone tends to look up to as paragons of human behaviour.
