The cyberpunk video game series releases a dramatic trailer imagining a bleak future in which augmentation splits humanity.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (also known as The Mechanical Apartheid) is a sequel to 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Cybernetics have become the latest wedge issue driving conflict between people – as a devastating terrorist attack pits the augmented against the ‘normal’.
The live action trailer shows a world in which cybernetic augmentation is normal and accepted – until something goes wrong. Despite some spotty acting and unsubtle dialogue, the spot is very well produced and serves to immerse us in the bleak future world that Deus Ex takes place. It’s easy to imagine people who hate and fear those with mechanical limbs, seeing them as servants of a corporate conspiracy.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a first person action game with stealth mechanics and RPG elements. The protagonist, security troubleshooter Adam Jensen, returns from the previous game in the series. It’s due to be released for PC and next gen consoles this August.
