The spin-off anime for Strike Witches titled Brave Witches will be premiering in Japan on October 5 for the fall 2016 season, according to its official site.
Brave Witches like Strike Witches is set in an alternate Earth, where teenage girls who can use magic (witches) and use machines attached to their legs to do aerial combat. Set in the period that would have been World War 2 in our era, these witches fight against invading aliens called the Neuroi.
While the original Strike Witches series focused on the 501st Joint Fighter Wing which also shared the same moniker as the anime title, the spin-off will focus on another unit called the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing, who are also called Brave Witches.
The cast of Brave Witches have already been announced and they include:
- Hiromi Igarashi as Edytha Rossmann
- Rina Satou as Gundula Rall
- Yumi Hara as Aleksandra I. Pokryshkin
- Natsumi Takamori as Nikka Edvardine Katajainen
- Ai Kakuma as Hikari Karibuchi
- Rie Murakawa as Naoe Kanno
- Rie Suegara as Takami Karibuchi
- Kayo Ishida as Waltrud Krupinski
- Haruka Terui as Georgette Lemare
- Marin Mizutani as Sadako Shimohara
As for the crew of the anime, Takaaki Suzuki, who worked as military history advisor for the Strike Witches anime, OVA and movies as well as animator SILVERLINK will be returning for the new series.
It has also been revealed that Yoko Ishida’s “Ashita no Tsubasa” (Wings of Tomorrow) will be the opening theme of the anime.
