Sony’s movie adaptation of popular Playstation-exclusive Uncharted series just got itself Shawn Levy, best known for Stranger Things and Night at the Museum.
This won’t be Levy’s first brush with video game inspired movies either, as he had plans for a Goonies-esque Minecraft movie which was rejected by Mojang.
While he may not have directed all the Stranger Things episodes, he’s also produced Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner’s upcoming sci-fi and horror film Arrival.
But this is good news for the Uncharted movie, as shooting was supposed to have started in early 2015, but their director at the time, Seth Gordon left the project and it skittered to a halt. The project’s original writer Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team) has also left the project to work on Sony’s Bad Boys for Life.
As for us, we’re quite interested in seeing how Sony and Levy will be handling the movie, considering Naughty Dog has wrapped up their Uncharted series with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. We be expecting a fair bit of action!
