With Pokemon Sun and Moon leaking before release, it’s no surprise that plenty of folks decided to pirate the game, but Nintendo isn’t letting people get away with it as they are now banning those who have downloaded the game.
Earlier this month, the files for Pokemon Sun and Moon got loose on the web, and the games were so complete that players could go online with them. Now, reports are coming in that people are getting banned on the 3DS, which prevents players from accessing the general eShop or go online with Sun and Moon.
Those suffering from the bans are trying to figure out ways to fix the problem; some suggestions even going as far as purchasing a legit 3DS, taking its information and placing it into the banned 3DS and then returning the new 3DS to the retailers. This essentially screws over the next owner of the device.
Here’s Nintendo’s statement on the matter:
As a result of a number of Nintendo 3DS users using unauthorized versions of several games, and connecting to the official game servers in violation of our terms of service, these users’ Nintendo 3DS systems that stored the unauthorized game code have been banned from Nintendo’s online network effective immediately.
So if you’ve pirated Pokemon Sun and Moon, you might get your 3DS device banned, so go legit.
