DC has revealed the first looks at their direct-to-DVD animated movie Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, which is based on the classic comic book storyline of the same name.
The Titans don’t entirely look the way we know them, with some costume updates.
We have Blue Beetle next to Beast Boy, Starfire, Nightwing (now in red) and Terra. Cyborg is nowhere to be seen, and neither is Raven or Wondergirl. The movie isn’t a direct adaptation of the 1984 comic book storyline but is instead inspired by it, which might explain the change in roster for the Titans. The bad guy however, still remains as Deathstroke.
In a nutshell, The Judas Contract took place in Tales of the Teen Titans volumes #42-44 and the Annual #3, which involves Deathstroke’s contract to deliver the Titans to the villainous organization H.I.V.E and the betrayal of the team by Terra, who was in league with Deathstroke since the beginning. This arc also marks the debut of Dick Grayson as Nightwing.
The Judas Contract also played out in subsequent comic books and inspired an arc for the Teen Titans animated series.
Teen Titans: The Judas Contract is directed by Sam Liu, with script by Ernie Altbacker. The voice cast includes Sean Maher, Kari Wahlgren, Jake T. Austin, Taissa Farmiga, Brandon Soo Hoo, Stuart Allan and Christina Ricci as Terra and Miguel Ferrer as Deathstroke.
