Can you feel the vibe?

Lenovo continues to spread its vibe across the world. The global #1 PC maker and #3 in smartphones has just unleashed the Vibe X2 in Malaysia, featuring a bold new multi-layered design and 4G LTE connectivity.

The Vibe X2 is the latest in Lenovo’s stable of affordable, high-performance devices. The device won the hearts of judges at IFA 2014, picking up a design award for its unique multi-tiered design language.

One layer is boring. How about three?

The layered design features colours of harmonious shades, complemented with a smooth finish. Lenovo apparently used sophisticated tech like robot arms and cleans rooms to get three coats of paint applied for each tone on every Vibe X2.

I have to be the first to admit. It does look cool.

What’s also cool is the Vibe Xtensions that accompany the new device. Vibe Xtensions clip-on to the Vibe X2 like the super slim Vibe X2 battery and Vibe X2 Speaker.

The Vibe X2 battery clips-on seamlessly to the phone, giving it additional 75% juice from its slender 5.1mm body.

The Vibe X2 Speaker is the first click-on speaker in the market and features JBL-enhanced audio too. Share those tunes on Spotify why don’t you! The speaker also has a built-in hands-free stand, Bluetooth and built-in battery that last up to 5 hours.

Why have four when you can have eight?

Lenovo is the first global handset vendor to ship a device with MediaTek’s latest MT6595 4G LTE True Octa-Core processor. Yes eight cores. Based on big.LITTLE architecture the new chip has the ability to harness all eight cores simultaneously, unlike other multi-core processors. This means a couple of things to us end users — more performance, and better battery life. Music to our ears.

It may be a mid-range device (a good-looking one at that), but the X2 packs plenty of goodies for the money — 5-inch Full HD IPS display, 2GB RAM, 32GB of storage, 4G LTE, dual-SIM, 13MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash, 5MP fixed focus front camera and runs Android 4.4 KitKat.

How much for a new Vibe?

The Lenovo Vibe X2 is available now priced at RM1,199.00 (US$343).

Time to Vibe!
