In what almost looked like a joke, Nintendo has revealed a brand new 2DS, the New Nintendo 2DS XL, which is a much bigger version of the original 2DS.
Looking very similar to it’s bigger, 3D enabled bro the 3DS, the New 2DS XL is available starting 28 July, and comes in black/turqouise. It will launch on the same day as Miitopia and Hey! Pikmin.
The device will set you back USD$149.99 (still slightly cheaper than the 3DS, which goes for USD$199).
For those not in the know, what sets the 2DS and 3DS apart is that the 2DS lacks the stereoscopic 3D screen that is the unique feature of the 3DS. However, they’ve gone for the same design as the 3DS this time, with the same dimensions for both consoles right down to the screens.

The New 2DS XL will also support amiibos and it comes with a 4GB microSDHC card out of the box, as well as an AC adapter, something the New 3DS XL doesn’t come with. You can look at the full list of differences here.
