Activision has partnered up with Shapeways to produce a limited run of custom-printed Skylander heroes. If you have a hero that you’ve always wanted to make into a teeny 3D printed figurine, here’s your chance.
All the merch can be ordered through the free Skylanders Creator app that’s set to hit 13 October (Australia, New Zealand), 14 October (Europe) and 16 October in North America, along with the launch of Skylanders Imaginators which is set to come with a full range of toys.
When you create a hero with the game you can either store it in a creation crystal, the 3D-printed figure or the plastic card. At launch, the figures will be available in the U.S and Europe only, though Activision hasn’t stated how long the limited run will be.
As for the figure themselves, you can colour each individual body part and choose which main pieces that make up your hero, which basically is the head, arms, body, tail and hands.
If you don’t feel like forking out $50 for your creation, you can also get it in the form of a $25 custom T-shirt or $15 Imaginator card. Activision is also kicking off a global contest to give away a key for a custom printing of their character. The contest starts 24 October and all that needs to be done is sharing your character made with the free app on social media with the #CreatorContest hashtag.
