Sony is giving the axe to their PlayStation Mobile initiative following a lack of interest.
The store, originally built for indie games and PlayStation classics that could be enjoyed on both the PS Vita handheld and a select bunch of Android smartphones, will have no further content published after 15 July and after 10 September you will not be able to re-download any of the games you have previously purchased, so now’s the time to back up those games!
Sony already ceased support for Android last year following a similar lack of traction. This could very well mean that the Vita platform won’t be getting much more indie gave developer love despite indie games doing well in the regular PlayStation Store.
We doubt this will bring an end to their portable console division but it’s a grim reminder over what CAN happen.
