Not too long after bringing in the LTE version of the Moto G in, Brightstar is set to bring another Moto phone into Malaysia come August. This time it’s the Moto E, which apparently, is built-to-last.

How exactly is it built-to-last? Well according to Motorola, the combination of its Corning Gorilla Glass and water-repellent splash guard will keep it safe from harm (no mention of any shock-proofing though), at least the physical aspect of it. And supposedly with its Android 4.4 KitKat OS, it’ll last pretty long, that is until Motorola stops supporting OS upgrades for it we reckon.

That being said, this is a entry level smartphone by Motorola so you shouldn’t be expecting too much out of it. For the price range it’s coming from though, the Moto E has some decent innards. It comes with a dual-core, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.3-inch screen and a 1980mAh battery. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera, 3G connectivity, built-in FM radio and dual-sim support.

Like the Moto G before it, it’ll also come with a variety of interchangeable back covers called Moto Shells that ought to appease some of the more cost-conscious fashionistas.

So when is it coming to Malaysia? All we know is that it’ll start coming in sometime in August. According to Amanz’s source, Brighstar will first be offering the Moto E as an exclusive to Lazada before opening it up to other retailers, just like what they did with the Moto G. . The local pricing has yet to be confirmed either but if we were to judge from the US pricing of US$128, we should expect it to be around the RM400 range.
