5. Peter Parker is a clone… or is he?
Spider-Man’s life was once again turned upside down with the revelation in the 90’s that a clone of Spider-man from an earlier, 1970’s story arc had not just survived but was in fact the original and not the clone! Ben Reilly, as he was known, then took over as Spider-Man or “The Scarlet Spider” while Peter Parker and Mary Jane moved to Portland during the much derided Clone Saga. After way too many comics and convoluted story-lines it was re-established that Peter Parker was the original and Ben Reilly was in fact the clone. The status quo was restored although another forgotten gem from this time was that Peter and Mary Jane Watson had a child together. You don’t hear that get talked about much any more either.
