4. Chew
Genre: Black comedy
What it’s about: Tony Chu is an agent with the US Food and Drug Administration and a Cibopath, a person who gets a psychic recollection from anything he eats. He uses the ability to solve cases in a world where an outbreak of bird flu has resulted in chicken and all other bird meat to be classified as illegal contraband.
With the food-related theme throughout the series and the different food related powers (there’s even one type of person, a Xocoscalpere, who can created any sort of sharp object using chocolate), the possibilities of comedy are endless. Steven Yuen (The Walking Dead’s Glenn) has already expressed interest in adapting this comic into a live-action TV series, though I would rather have John Cho as Tony Chu, eating his way through cases like he used to do at White Castle.
