In a blog post, Google unveils Google Fit which the company promises to be “an effortless, comprehensive view of your fitness“.
It uses existing sensors that are in-built in the Android phone, tablet, web and Android Wear device — it automatically tracks a user’s activity such as walking, biking and running. Users can set their fitness goal with the app to track progress of the said goals.
The app can be paired with few popular fitness devices such as Strava, Withings, Runtastics, Runkeeper and Noom Coach for more comprehensive data — disclosing in full the state of the user’s health and fitness.
All the user has to do is keep the Android devices with him/her and it will keep track of the activity. So far the app can monitor activities like jogging, walking or bicycling. Google has not made known if other activities will be included in the near future.
The app is launched on Google Play for Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich and above.
