Alden Ehrenreich has just been confirmed to be portraying young Han Solo in his stand-alone anthology origin story.

Known more for his work in Hail Caesar and Blue Jasmine films, he’s also had guest appearances on television series like Supernatural, CSI and a handful of other films. However, the casting hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm; with the news coming from the Star Wars Celebration in London.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s Han Solo origin movie is slated for a 2018 release, and while details are scant, it will follow on Han Solo and Chewie as rogue thieves before they join the Rebellion. It’s rumoured that it will be a buddy-cop type flick but there’s also no official confirmation on that.

The movie will mark the second anthology film from the Star Wars franchise, with the first, aka Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to come out 16 December this year.
