Much like the Santa Pikachus that appeared over Christmas, Pokemon Go will be host to Pikachus in Party hats from today till 6 March!
The reason for celebration? why Pokemon just hit 21 years old! The original Pokemon Red and Green were released in Japan on this very day, 21 years ago, and that’s a lot to celebrate!
During this period, anyone playing Pokemon Go can find said Pikachus spawning on the map, though they don’t have any special abilities (like throwing cake). However, they’ll keep their hats even after the celebrations are over, and probably as Raichu if you decide to evolve them later.
So get on out and catch those special Pikachus while you can!
And Happy 21st Birthday Pokemon, you’re finally old enough to go out and buy a beer 😉
