The Great Dragon Ugin has summoned Planeswalker Sarkhan Vol to his aid, bringing him back through time to when the Dragons still ruled the Skies of Tarkir. Thanks to Sarkhan’s intervention in the battle between Ugin and Nicol Bolas, the dragon survived and the Fate of Tarkir was forever changed.

Since the announcement of the Fate Reforged set, Magic the Gathering players worldwide have been waiting with bated breath to see what form the great Dragon Ugin will take, given that Ugin was also a Planeswalker and it’s only fitting that Nicol Bolas himself was challenged by someone equally as powerful. Now that Fate Reforged has launched, let us take a look at how Ugin and the rest of Tarkir fares with their new Fate in Magic Cards.

So we got in touch with Kenji Lee, owner of The Tavern game store to share with us which cards from the Fate Reforged set you shouldn’t do without.

11. Mob Rule

Among all the cards in the top 10, this is the only card that is not a standalone Bomb* that made it here. It’s a rather situational card and you’d rather have in your hand any other of the Top 10 cards than this at any other time except when your opponent is tapped out and has too many creatures. Being able to cast Insurrection on a turn six clock just allows for fast decks to really get in, hit hard and run, just like how Mobsters would do in days gone by. Maybe that’s where they got the name?

*Bomb: A card that makes a large impact on the game which it is played, hard to defend against and are usually used in conjunction with Limited play. Also sometimes useless in constructed format games.
