Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. played a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the main focus on Hydra and the Inhumans. In the course of the series, viewers will get hints toward Nick Fury’s own super team called the “Secret Warriors”. Now, we are definitely sure that they will show up in Season 3 and their first leader will be none other than Skye Daisy “Quake” Johnson.
We do know that Coulson vowed to set up a team of super-powered heroes at the end of Season 2, which was solidified with a “Caterpillars” easter egg on the folder handed to Skye. That, is the codename belonging to the team from the comics.
Official synopsis for Season 3:
“In the aftermath of SHIELD’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary new team to deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of SHIELD will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.”
Set to begin on 29 September, regulars Adrianne Palicki (Mockingbird) and Nick Blood (Lance Hunter) will be back once again. Despite earlier plans for a spin-off series based on the pair by ABC, the new series didn’t quite take off in the end. Henry Simmons (Mack) and Luke Mitchell (Lincoln) upgraded to be regulars too. It is expected that the series plotline will be building up to the Captain America: Civil War storyline that will be addressed in the movie.
