Surely I can’t be the only one who still hasn’t gotten over the fact that Edge of Tomorrow 2 will be known as Live, Die, Repeat AND REPEAT? What kinda title is that?
Anyway, sh*tty title aside, if Liman makes a movie half as good as the first one, we’ll leave the cinema smiling. In an interview with Happy Sad Confused, Liman revealed that the movie will function as both a prequel and a sequel. Liman also mentioned that the movie will be smaller in scale and mostly not on the battlefield.
This gets me excited. While most sequels tend to assume, “bigger is better” and opt to go with more action sequences and larger set pieces, it’s intriguing that Liman would choose the opposite path. Liman also touched on the comedy aspect in the first movie and how he’ll be focusing on the characters of Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
In regards to the film’s timeline, Liman had this to say:
It does pick up right where we left off, but it doesn’t keep going forward because we screw with time, because the aliens screwed with time.
Horrible title or not, it seems like Doug Liman is really passionate about this project and that is definitely good news for fans!
