ChrisPine
Seen in Star Trek

Reliable sources have just let on that Chris Pine (Star Trek) is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to be Wonder Woman’s love interest, Steve Trevor. This is might be the first major update for Wonder Woman‘s current director, Patty Jenkins (Monster) after the much publicized departure of Michelle McLaren (Game of Thrones).

The movie’s script is written by Jason Fuchs (Pan) and the movie is set for release on 23 June 2017. While no official information has yet been released on the plot of the movie, rumours are saying the story will be focusing on Paradise Island where the Amazons have broken into factions fighting each other. When a mysterious male pop out in their midst and asked for help, the titular hero follows him to the human world and that’s where her adventure begins.

Before this, actors like Scott Eastwood (Fury), Liam Hemsworth (Mockingjay series) and Alexander Skarsgard (Battleship, Melancholia) were being considered for the role. There is a consideration that Chris Pine might take up the role of Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern reboot too. Undoubtedly, that means the rumours of Scott Eastwood playing Steve Trevor in another DC universe movie, Suicide Squad are essentially debunked.

For those who felt the director’s name is familiar, Patty Jenkins had a very public episode with Marvel few years ago when she is fired due to “creative differences” during the making of Thor: The Dark World. Reportedly, the firing didn’t go well with one of the co-star, Natalie Portman. In the case of Michelle McLaren, the studio wanted a more character centric of the female superhero story but McLaren wanted an epic scale treatment complete with 1920s setting and a talking pet tiger. Plus the studio isn’t so sure if she can pull it off since her experience is only limited to TV, not multi-million dollar movies.
