Not too long ago 20th Century Fox dropped the official logo, title and synopsis for Alien: Covenant, and now they’re saying that Covenant will be followed by two more movies, making it a grand total of four movies leading up to the classic Alien film.
Here’s the synopsis for Alien: Covenant:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
To sum it up, the reason why Scott is tackling the origin stories of the xenomorphs was because he felt frustrated with the sequels and is surprised that no one has ever questioned why they exist, in an interview recently with THR.
He also says that the movies will address the reasons why the Space Jockey was there in the first place and why it had an Alien inside it.
Michael Fassbender is set to return as the android David and Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw will be making a small appearance in Covenant. The movie is set to land on 6 October 2017.
