Independence Day 2 will see the return of Jeff Goldblum who will reprise his role as David Levinson, the guy who figured out how to take down the alien invader’s shield with a computer virus. Not only that, Liam Hemsworth who is seen in Mockingjay movie series will be playing as a cop here.

Last but not least. Jessie Usher (Hannah Montana, The Mentalist) will taking the role of the son of Will Smith’s pilot hero from the first movie. Roland Emmerich exulted on the Facebook: “First you strategically position your pieces, and when the time is right, you strike.” Excited to officially announce Liam Hemsworth and Jeff Goldblum as the next two pieces of the Independence Day sequel!”
Originally meant to be a two part sequel, but Fox canned the idea in the last moment. The scribe will be Carter Blanchard who penned TV series, Good vs Evil long time ago. Rumours are swirling that actor who played the role of US President who happens to be a fighter pilot, Bill Pullman might be returning to the sequel but so far no solid lead on that one yet. The story is about the alien reinforcements came after receiving the distress signal from first invasion fleet that took 20 Earth years to reach the planet.
The alien invasion movie sequel will be landing at cinemas nearby fans on 24 June 2016. It is incredible to think that the first movie came out on 3 July 1996, hence it is a gap of 20 years.
However there is a notable absence of Will Smith in this sequel this time.
