3. TMNT III: The Manhattan Project

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: The Manhattan Project

This game was another NES gem that was sorely overlooked. The Konami B-team created a TMNT side game when the A-team was working on the 2D fighting games.

It turns out that this side-game was anything but a TMNT 2 NES copycat. TMNT 3: The Manhattan Project came with its own bag of tricks: new levels taking place atop a floating Manhattan, new attacks like the stab-and-throw and individual special moves for each Turtle, and a bigger roster of bosses to fight like Slash, Groundchuck, and the TMNT 2 movie baddies Tohka and Rahzar. It also helped that this underrated classic had a catchy soundtrack and a more colorful-than-usual aesthetics.
