4. TMNT Tournament Fighters Sega Megadrive version
You might be thinking “Wait, wasn’t this your number two pick for best TMNT games”? That version was for the Super NES while this was for the Sega Megadrive. Back then there were pretty big differences between the two, despite the same name.
I should give the developers props for making the taunt feature in this bland fighting game a practical tool: it boosts your attack so long as the animation is complete. Kudos to them for adding an instant replay feature.
That said, this game was created in an era where your 2D fighting game had to stand out among the pack of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat wannabes. TMNT Tournament Fighters for the Megadrive ain’t it. The AI is unfair, the fighting feels stiff, and fighters are as uninspired as the graphics and sound.
