5. Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)
The tale of V’ger returning to earth may have a lot to like for 70’s cinephiles, hard science fiction fans and lovers of “spaceship porn”, however it comes at the cost of pacing, action and entertainment. Star Trek was always entertainment first, science second but even in 19799, two years after after the dog fighting, swashbuckling joys of Star Wars, never ending beauty pans across the hull of the enterprise and discussions about creators and their creations seemed old fashioned and out of date.
