While he has been teasing his involvement with Star Wars Episode VIII for a few months now, they’ve been mum about what character he will be playing. Now we know that he will in fact be the main villain for said movie, though we don’t know said villain’s identity just yet.

Benicio del Toro (The Usual Suspects) apparently will be working alongside certain cast members from J.J Abram’s The Force Awakens, which will be making a re-appearance for Star Wars Episode VIII. These includes the old guard from the original Star Wars trilogy, aka Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, who should be reprising their roles.

The Force Awakens is set to release 18 December this year, while Episode VIII is expected to release come 26 May 2017.Colin Trevorrow of Jurassic World fame will be directing Episode IX with a 2019 release window.

At any rate, they’ll probably reveal the villain as the date draws closer, but in the mean time, check out our impressions for the Star Wars Battlefront Beta.

So what kind of character do you think del Toro would be? we’re betting some kind of Sith Lord at the very least. Let us know what you think in the comments!
