Pokemon GO global rollout delayed

It’s no surprise that Pokemon GO’s release has been THE hottest piece of gaming news over the last couple of days. For many outside the release countries, it’s been an agonising wait and with the APK workaround not working anymore, even more so. Well here’s some bad news for fans, we might have to wait even longer now.

As we’ve reported earlier, the popularity of Pokemon Go has caused the servers to crash for some players, making it almost impossible to access the game. The good news is that Niantic Labs, who developed the game and is running it, is aware of the problem, and according to the CEO John Hanke, they’re in the midst of working on a fix.

The bad news is that until they can fix the server capacity, any plans for international rollout of the game, including to countries like Malaysia, Singapore and the Phillipines, is, according to Hanke “paused until we’re comfortable” according to Hanke.

Despite the fact that Niantic Lab’s were aware of the buzz and popularity of the game, they were still caught by surprise by how much of a phenomenon it has become.

Chin up though fans, as Niantic Labs says they have made great strides in fixing the problem. Well, at least that’s what they say as from what we’ve been reading, there’s still some connectivity issues.

Hopefully they fix this soon because there’s still plenty of us outside the launch countries that can’t wait to go catch Pokemon. If they can’t handle the amount of players now, what more when a few more hundred thousand join in?
