The live-action adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist has yet to be released but the sequel to it has already been announced at Anime Expo 2017. This is according to the director, Fumihiko Sori, and lead actor Ryosuke Yamada, both who were at a panel for the movie at the convention.
Security has been tight at the expo but attendees of the panel managed to tweet out details as it was ongoing. According to one panel attendee @Nico_NVS, he tweeted:
“So every character that we know and love in the Fullmetal Alchemist movie are coming along with a confirmed Part 2 to the movie”
He further elaborated “Another movie is confirmed for the Fullmetal Alchemist movie so basically Part 2 since the anime is so long.”

This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen an anime live-action adaptation get sequels so soon. We saw it in the live-action Attack on Titan movie adaptation as well as the live-action adaptation of the Kyoto arc for Rurouni Kenshin.
Hopefully, Fullmetal Alchemist won’t be as bad as most recent, highly anticipated anime adaptations (we’re looking at you Attack on Titan and Ghost in the Shell). However, that might not really be an issue as it seems, reports of early reviews of the movie have been pretty positive. We certainly pray that will really be the case.
