Paramount Pictures, who had turned two Hasbro toy franchises (G.I. Joe and Transformers) into billion dollar movie efforts successfully is now turning their ever hungry eyes on the next one – Beyblade. The movie giant got the rights to turn Beyblade into live-action feature (oh no) which will be produced by Mary Parent via Disruption Entertainment.

For those who have zero idea on what Beyblade is, the toyline was started by Tomy Takara (who also started Transformers) in Japan, reportedly inspired by traditional Japanese fighting tops. In the native country and North America, the franchise is a strong success, bolstered with multiple anime series and video games. It is estimated that Beyblade franchise made US$2.5 billion in revenue.

The toy line was licensed to Hasbro in 2001 and got a second life in 2009 when second generation called Metal Fusion became a big hit worldwide. Next generation of Beyblade lineup is planned for 2017 release. As for the live action feature, we have no idea on when, who and what for now.
