On Thursday, Nanae Chrono’s Twitter account announced that a new anime adaptation of her manga Peace Maker Kurogane was given the all clear. No dates or format has been specified for the project so far.
The day also saw the release of the manga’s 15th book published. These includes five books of Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker, the predecessor to Peace Maker Kurogane.
Set right before the Meiji Restoration, the story follows Tetsunosuke Ichimura, who wants to gain strength to exact revenge on a Chōshū rebel for his parents’ death.
The manga originally started as Shinsengumi Imon Peace Maker in Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine published by Square Enix in 1999. In 2001, she shifted to publishers Mag Garden and resumed the story under its current title. In the subsequent years, the manga shuffled between publishers before finally settling in Monthly Comic Garden in 2014.
The 2003 anime adaptation of the series has been re-released by Funimation in 2011 under their Anime Classic line and again in September.
In addition, the manga had also inspired a live-action television series which came out in 2010.
