Riz Ahmed is on a roll lately. His performance in Nightcrawler is amazing, holding his own alongside one of the best method actors working today, Jake Gyllenhaal. However, it was his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that made him known amongst the more mainstream audience, as well.
According to Variety, Riz Ahmed is currently in talks to be in another major blockbuster which is Sony’s kinda, sorta but not quite Spider-Man spinoff movie, Venom. Venom is set to be helmed by Ruben Fleischer — Zombieland — and already has Tom Hardy cast as the titular anti-hero. While there are no specific details on what exactly Riz Ahmed’s role will be, Variety reports that he will be playing a popular Marvel Comics character.
Some fans are speculating that Riz Ahmed might be playing the villain in the movie, Carnage. However, Sony has thus far declined to comment on the casting and the character.
Venom is set to hit theaters on 5 October 2018.
