One of the film distributors in the Philippines, Rafaella Films International – the people who brought Train to Busan to the Philippines – announced this past Tuesday that it will be screening Sunao Katabuchi’s anime film In This Corner of the World in the Philippines in June.
In This Corner of the World was released in 63 Japanese theatres last November and has gotten a fair amount of support from the Japanese market, with Box Office Mojo estimating the film to gross over US$ 19 Mil in Japan. Japanese theatre chains are now adding more screenings due to the immense popularity of this film.
Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni (In This Corner of the World) is based on a popular, award-winning manga by Fumiyo Kouno and is directed by Sunao Katabuchi. This movie has already won various awards this year including Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year and Japan Internet Movie Awards for Best Film.
Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni made its theatrical debut in Japan on November 12, 2016.
