HP has introduced Sprout — a unique and ambitious attempt to revolutionise PC design.
How does it revolutionise PC design you say?
HP Sprout is an all-in-one PC with a touch mat that acts as a second screen and an overhead projector/camera that scans 3D images. HP designers attempt to combine the physical and digital world into one form, and on first impressions seems to be aimed squarely at the creative industry.
Based on Windows 8.1 with HP custom software, Sprout enables users to manipulate objects with fingers using gestures.
Specs-wise, Sprout touts a 4th generation Intel i7-4790S CPU, with graphics powered by NVIDIA GeForce GT745A with 2GB DDR3 and 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 SDRAM expandable to 16GB. Storage is 1TB SATA 6G Solid State Hybrid Drive with 8GB flash acceleration.
For the display, it has a 23-inch diagonal with 10-point touch Full HD (1920×1080). The HP Touch Mat boasts 20-inch diagonal input with 20-point touch and stylus. The illuminator is powered by a HP DLP Projector with up to 14.6MP and Intel’s RealSense 3D camera to capture 2D or 3D objects with an LED desk lamp.
The retail price tag is around USD$1,899 (MYR6,248) and it is available for shipping next month according to HP. Watch the video for a closer look at the design.
