Kyoto Animation or affectionately known by anime fans as KyoAni, has released the first trailer of upcoming musical series, Hibike! Euphonium (響け! ユーフォニアム 北宇治高校吹奏楽部へようこそ) or literally Sound! Euphonium Welcome to Kitauji High School’s Musical Instrument Club. The series is based on a Japanese novel by Ayano Takeda published on 5 December 2013 under Takarajimasha publication house.
The story talks about a musical club at Kitauji High School which makes massive improvement due to new adviser’s strict supervision. In the past, the club had always featured in national competitions but fell into disrepute that saw the club unable to pass regional competition later. With a newly appointed advisor, they begin growing back into their former glory. However it comes with cost as the members of the club will find out later.
The anime adaptation will be helmed by Tatsuya Ishihara (Nichijou, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions), while series composition is by Jukki Hanada (K-On! series), music scoring is by Akito Matsuda (Glasslip) and art direction is under Mutsuo Shinohara (Nichijou, K-On!). With massive support from big names like Pony Canyon and Lantis, fans are already anticipating or hoping that this will be the next successor to an incredibly popular K-ON! franchise that stormed the anime scene in the early 2000s.
The series is scheduled for an April 2015 release.
