A TV adaptation of Takumi Yanai’s fantasy mixed with modern military light novel, Gate: Jietai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri / ゲート:自衛隊 彼の地にて、斯く戦えり (Thus the JSDF Fought There) is confirmed. The official site and Twitter account of the series just operational today.
The author is used to be a SDF officer which after his discharge from the military, he wrote a series of novels to website Arcadia from 2006 to 2009 which grown popular in time. The main story already concluded with 5 volumes of novels and it continues with a sidestory that is still going strong. The 4th volume of the sidestory will be published soon on 22nd December 2014.
The story is about a dimensional gate opens in modern day Ginza, Tokyo and beings of mythical fantasy came out of it attacking Japan. After a successful military campaign that managed to push them back into the portal, the Japanese Self Defense Force decided to deploy a recconnaisse force to explore the world on the other side of the portal. When 1st Lieutenant Yoji Itami rescued a village from a dragon, he starts form a party with an elf, sorcerer and demi god from another world for a adventure of his lifetime.
No details on casting, staffing and date of airing is known yet.
