Kanari Abe’s manga adaptation of the same name is about two childhood friends Akeno Misaki and Moeka China who strive to become “Blue Mermaids” – sea patrols or sea police.
The setting is 100-years into the future after plate subductions caused many countries to submerge except for a few remaining coastal towns. Kanari’s manga debuted in October last year and it is surprising to see it being adapted as an anime so quickly.
The Production IMS anime which mostly concerns on conserving nature and marine life is set to be on screen on April 9.
