11. D.Gray-Man Hallow
D.Gray-Man Hallow is the sequel to the popular 2006 supernatural anime D.Gray-Man. This sequel continues the journey of the cursed exorcist Allen Walker and his trial and tribulations in doing right by the many characters he encountered while fighting Akuma – spirits of lost souls with a tragic end, who are bound forever to the will of its creator – the Millennium Earl.
Though the 2006 anime starts off a little slow, the story soon picks up pace and as it progresses, the series takes on a noticeably darker tone. The animation too, as the series continues on, is much better drawn in the later episodes. The great draw here is the characters – though it certainly took its time fleshing out the characters, especially Lavi and Bookman, it was well worth the wait in the end. The anime ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger, but it’s still a satisfying ending for the season. And now for this summer, we finally have that sequel after 10 years.
