Official site of the latest Jun Maeda’s work, Charlotte/シャーロット reveals the staff list and a new key visual. Jun Maeda who is famous for Kanon, Clannad and Angel Beats!, considered as one of the premier writer in the anime scene for his string of well received, critically acclaimed successes. His style of storytelling is characterized by deep tragedies and prolonged, rich emotional scenes.
The anime series is scheduled for a July 2015 airing.
The director is Yoshiyuki Asai (Ah My Goddess!) with character designing fell to Kanami Sekiguchi who did Shirobako & Tari-Tari. Sound director is Satoki Iida (Angel Beats!, Assassination Classroom) with screenplay writer and music composer done by Jun Maeda himself.
The official synopsis of the series:
Set in a word in which a small percent of children manifest super powers upon reaching puberty, the series follows the Nouryokusha mono, power bearer, members of the “Hoshi No Umi” Academy student council as they help peers with problems arising from their abilities.
In a recent interview with Dengeki G, Jun Maeda revealed few key points on his new work. First, the plotting and story is a typical Key style with more focus on characters. He felt that his previous work, Angel Beats! missing out on characterization. There will be two stage performances by the band which one of the member is also in the student council with said student council is the central theme of the story. The screenplay writer will be composer for both OP and ED songs of the series too, besides writing lyrics for the insert songs. The main genre of the songs will be female vocals with the singing done by the voice actresses themselves. Finally, the first half of the series will have a slower pacing compared to Angel Beats! before picks up from second half on.
Will the series continue Jun Maeda’s winning streak? Time will tell.
